O'K Arabian Farms is pleased to be both friend and mentor to Joy Piccone of Summerwind Spanish Arabians in Harleysville, PA.  Joy has assembled an incredible group of straight Spanish mares whose beauty rivals that of some of the top breeders in the country.  We are so pleased that she has chosen a stallion we bred to stand at stud to her awesome group of mares.  He is Sasakis Samurai who is sired by *Sasaki.   Recognizing the importance of the dam in any successful stallion's pedigree, Joy chose a stallion who is out of Jaleas E T.  She is sired by *Barich de Washoe and is out of a Zancudo daughter.  E T, as she is affectionately known, is a mare whose progeny is beyond belief.  She is the dam of both Cimero and Sidsational AA, who both stand at public stud and have produced extremely well.  Her daughter Avellana was a Top Ten at Scottsdale.  Her daughter Camaya was exported to the UK and has been a champion when shown overseas.  Below are a couple of recent pictures of Sasakis Samurai.  We are so pleased that he is maturing into a lovely individual and wish Joy great success with her new venture of Spanish Arabian horse breeding.      Below are two of Joy's mares.  The grey is Amuleta de Espana (Aerik x BPL Tia Safia) whom we bred.  The chestnut is her daughter, Bella Amuleta (*Sasaki x Amuleta de Espana).  Amuleta de Espana is in foal to Sasakis Samurai for 2009.        And these are just three of the horses that Joy is using to start her straight Spanish program! In 2008 *SASAKI has two foals coming out of *SIDI BRAHIM daughters.   We are deeply saddened for Los Acres over the loss of their fabulous stallion and feel it to be a great tribute to be able to carry on his bloodlines through *SASAKI.  This will be very exciting!  AND we can hardly wait.  Connie Roger’s mare, CHISPA, is in foal to *SASAKI and the resulting baby will be a full sibling to SAKITO who is already a halter champion as well as being pinned Champion in a Liberty class.  Not bad for a yearling.   Of course we are all thinking PINK, this time.  These pictures were taken in early March when a surprise snowfall dumped 8 inches of heavy wet snow on us.  That's the middle of breeding and foaling season!  In Texas, this was a great surprise as we are used to looking at daffodils, tulips, and green grass at that time of the year.  While Texans are known for being incredibly tough at tolerating the blistering heat we have down here for 7 months of the year, I have to admit that when it comes to the snow and cold, we do tend to whimper abit!  Luckily all of the snow melted within a couple of days and things were back to normal! Also in early March, we had a wonderful visit with Lynda Free who owns Dream Field Arabians of the UK.  She has long been an admirer of *SASAKI and on a visit to the US decided to look him up and see his progeny.  We had a delightful visit and she took some of the pictures featured on our website.  She has a definite knack at capturing the soft side of the horses.  Some of my  favorites are below.  Visit her website here.  Dream Field Arabians             In May, our *MEDINA AZAHARA daughter foaled a HUGE chestnut filly by *SASAKI.  This filly is special in that she carries the blood of both *SASAKI and *LA SAGURO coupled with the same dam line as MAGNUM PSYCHE!  Pictures are coming as she unfolds abit.  This was a long awaited foal and with the sudden spurt of colts that we've had, we are especially thankful that she was a filly.
